Dr Nader Naderi - Specialist Urologist

Dr. Nader Naderi studied medicine at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Dr Naderi earned his medical degree cum laude at the VUMC

He trained as a urologist at the Academic Medical Center (AMC) and worked for a while at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital to gain broad experience. He has been a full-time urologist since 1 January 2006. During his urology training, Dr Naderi trained in almost all aspects of urology.

To further extend his clinical knowledge and experience, he worked for two years as an oncology fellow and reconstructive urologist at the Utrecht University Medical Centre (UMC). This gave him valuable experience in the fields of oncological urology and reconstructive surgery.

During and after his training, he took various courses and undertook activities to further develop his skills as an all-round urologist. He has published various publications and delivered several lectures.

Dr Naderi is one of the few urologists who has qualified as a Fellow van de European Board of UrologyHe is particularly interested in innovation and in personalised patient care.

Dr Wim Meinhardt has a long and valuable track record in oncology and general urology.

Dr Meinhardt has a supervisory role whose primary objective is to improve the quality of care. Dr Meinhardt also has an advisory role and is a backup urologist at Avisina.
Short biography
Born in 1954 in Amsterdam.
After completing his medical studies at the Free University, he worked with surgeons and gynaecologists for two years in Hoorn. After that he took tropical medicine courses.

Between 1983 and 1987, Dr Meinhardt worked at two mission hospitals in Malawi. That was followed by two years as a surgical assistant in Alkmaar and four years as a urology assistant at the Academic Hospital Leiden and Leyenburg Hospital in The Hague. He has worked as a urologist since June 1993, initially at the Leiden University Medical Centre, and from November 1993 to July 2014 at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital (AvL) Amsterdam. His activities at the AvL mostly comprised oncological surgery and polyclinic treatment for sexual rehabilitation of men after cancer treatment. At present, he divides his working time between Avisina and periods of work in Suriname and various countries in Africa.

Treasurer for the Wetenschappelijke Vereniging voor Seksuele Disfuncties (WVSD, scientific association for sexual dysfunctions.

Scientific work
His first publications were about medical problems in Sub-Saharan Africa. During his urologist training, most publications were about the diagnostics and treatment of sexual dysfunction among men. In 1997, he earned his doctoral degree with the thesis entitled ‘Erectile dysfunction, the conservative urologic options’. After that, the publications concentrated on the diagnostics and treatment of urological cancer. The list of 41 publications as the first author and 92 as co-author are available on request.

Ms Van Popering took a degree in nursing at the Saxion University of Applied Sciences in Enschede. She completed her studies successfully in 1995.

Immediately after her studies, Ms Van Popering headed abroad and settled down in Regensburg, south Germany. She worked at the orthopaedic department of the Der Barmherzige Brüder Hospital as a nurse for about five years.

In 2000, with the necessary experience, Ms Van Popering returned to the Netherlands and worked for 1.5 years at the Surgery/Urology department and later at the orthopaedic department of the then Twenteborg Hospital in Almelo.

At the end of 2001, she moved to Amstelveen and worked at the Orthopaedics and Urology department at the Amstelland Hospital for 10 years.

In 2012, Ms Van Popering briefly worked at the Medical Centre Amstelveen (MCA) as a nurse in the recovery room.

She has been the driving force of the Avisina team since 2013, not only as a nurse, but also as the practice manager. In her role, Ms Van Popering is one of the regular points of contact in the practice and she walks patients through every stage of their care process from A to Z.
